I haven't been reading any of these Convergence stories by DC Comics so far, but I noticed the covers. When I first saw previews of the variants for the first month, designed by Chip Kidd (@chipkidd), I figured the colored over portion would have something else that would be revealed when the comics were released. So when I saw them on the stands as previewed, I was disappointed. I did not think people would prefer the variants over the regular ones. But people do seem to like them from what I've read in spots. Thought I'd throw up a few for comparison. Chose a few that I'd have to think twice over which one to get.
Convergence: Nightwing/Oracle # 1 (of 2):
Regular cover by Jill Thompson. Fighting with Hawkman.
Variant (designed by Chip Kidd, as are all the others below). Nightwing close-up.
As you'll see below, each week of releases has its own color which repeats the second month. Blue, pink, yellow, and finally black. At least black makes sense if these characters are fighting to exist, the reported premise of the stories, and may not make it, thus fading away. For month two, the fade to color switches sides, which I'll show here only with Shazam.
Convergence: Justice League International # 1 (of 2) by Paul Renaud (regular only):
Convergence: Hawkman # 1 (of 2) by Rafael Albuquerque (regular only):
Convergence: Infinity Inc. # 1 (of 2) by Ben Caldwell (regular only):
Convergence: Shazam # 1 (of 2) by Evan Shaner (regular only):
Working on putting together this little gallery made me appreciate the variants more. They really are interesting and striking once you get used to them. Might even be nice to have one, two or a few as larger prints.

Note:
The fine print on the variants has original artist credits for the faces that are enlarged to full cover size, if you want them. This data is not on all the previews I had time to gather, so you can't find it here in this post in all cases. I guess part of the fun could be determining the issue from which the images came, assuming they are all old art.
